13. Launch week review...
Welcome back! So on Monday February 6th 2012, I launched Robot Envy on Kickstarter. Since this process is very new to me, I am learning all sorts of interesting stuff about having a kickstarter project. The first observation I have is about the initial launch. I launched the project and shared it on Facebook. Since social media is the end-all, be-all these days I created a dedicated twitter account and this blog. So that is 3 things to manage, so I picked up Hoot Suite to help manage the social media.
Anyway, so pledges rolled in really fast the first day. Response was SUPER surprising and I raised funding for 26% of the project in ONE day! Quite shocking to me really, so I thought "wow, I will have the project funded in 4 days with this response!" However, keeping that momentum is kinda unrealistic to me. Day 2 dropped substantially, Day 3 even more and so on...so it is probably this is safe to assume that it is an average or norm for most projects on kickstarter. Obviously there are projects that are just hyper popular and get funded or over funded in days- even hours.
With that said, I am NOT that case, haha! :) I have to figure out ways to get people interested and pledging outside of my network. I am using your networks now, those of you who are my friend or have pledged to share the project and hope for others. At the same time I hate the idea of being annoying or bugging people about Robot Envy. Not really sure how to get the project funded without some pushing on that a big. But believe me, it is something I do NOT want to do, it is something that I HAVE to do if I want this project to become a reality. Thank you again for your support, I will continue to post progress and hope for the best. May karma and the robot powers that be help me out a here. :)
