So, selling Robot Envy with Amazon revealed many unknowns. Mainly fees, here is a bit more information about Amazon accounts. When I originally signed up, I didn't really see any options for the type of account I was signing up for. There are 2 types, a Professional Account and an Individual Account. Somehow, I somehow got put into the Professional account, this might have been through the kickstarter project. I do not remember this being a conscious decision, I thought I was just creating an account. In any case the differences are QUITE large, mainly FEES! First of all, I sell more books through the robot-envy site compared than amazon.com. But I noticed when I sold something, more fees started popping in–and I was like wtf? Not cool. Here is a breakdown of the differences between the accounts: Professional Account - This is ONLY for companies that sell 40+ items! $39.99 Fee a month 15% per item Sale $1.35 Variable Fee, whatever the heck that is. offers lots of tools and marketplace websites etc...
Individual Account - This is for Average Joe people who have one item or a just a few. .99 cents per sale. dats it. not much tools or bells and whistles.
With that said, my Kickstarter friends, I would double check and make sure that you do NOT have a Professional Account. It will bleed you dry. If you do not know, call Amazon Seller them, they were very helpful and reversed some fees for me. I hope this helps a bit!
